After receiving our microaquariums we filled them with water samples and various forms of plant material. We then had the opportunity to view our aquariums under magnification. I noticed many microorganisms, but the most extraordinary was the organism I found which appeared to be attached to the moss in the aquarium. After some searching on the internet I believe Ive found that it is called a "stalked ciliate" (pictured above). This
organism seemed to straighten out then shoot back towards the moss. I saw other various circular organisms floating around near these "stalked ciliate" but am unable to identify them.
